Kintsugi Art Workshop with Amelia Bedson
This year we are delighted to welcome back celebrated gilder Amelia Bedson to lead a Kintsugi art workshop in the Tudor Stables Studio at Haddon Hall. Kintsugi, which roughly translates as ‘golden joinery’, is a Japanese art form where broken pottery pieces are repaired with gold, creating an even stronger, more beautiful piece. It is based on the philosophy that the value of an object lies not in its beauty but in its imperfections, and that these imperfections are something to celebrate, not hide.
This beginner’s half-day workshop is an introduction to the technique. All tuition, materials and equipment are supplied, as well as two pieces of pottery for each participant to work on. The pottery is broken in a controlled manner and is then repaired by applying real gold to create the stunning lines.
This workshop is suitable for everyone over the age of 18. No previous experience is required. Your ticket includes half-price admission to Haddon Hall and its beautiful gardens on the same day, plus tea/coffee throughout the duration of the workshop.
Please note that tickets are non-refundable.
